At one time, this was my favorite brand of ammo. Haven't seen any for sale in several years, had hoped this was just a geographical issue, not that it was no longer made/imported. I wonder if Israel decided that they needed all their ammo at home?

Hello. That's a good question and one to which I do not have the answer. I bought a couple of cases of the 9mm "DiCut" JHP (or some very similar name) and while expansion characteristics were not so good as several other JHP's I've tried, the stuff was both consistent and accurate. The cases were also very good for reloading.

Best.

Howdy demented,

You do have me wondering now about the IMI ammo line. I will have to ask my buddy the next time I am in his gun store and see if he knows the answer.

In the past I have fired a lot of both their 124gr FMJ/Nato 9mm load and their 55gr FMJ and 55gr SP 5.56 ammo. I fell into a real deal and was able to buy several 1000 round cases of their 5.56 ammo. I still have most of it sitting in my ammo cabinet now.

They were actually listed on our ammo list at work, which made me laugh when I read the list had been modified to include only ammo manufactured within the U.S. When I called my bud who selected our ammo from a national contract, I asked him what he thought of the IMI line. He felt it was a very consistent and accurate line, and added that is primarily why I chose it as ammo your folks out in the field could purchase.

Their was a long silence on his end when I asked Jim if he realized where IMI ammo was manufactured. Finally he said well I think my lightbulb has just turned on, thanks I think, lol. They left the 5.56 ammo on our "can buy" list for another year of two, but dropped the 9mm load from the next list, substituting two US FMJ Nato loads to replace it. This was probably like 10 years ago or so, and I have not seen any on our "can buy" lists since then.

As has been noted, all of my experience with their ammo has been extremely positive, so I hope they are still in business and it is still being imported. But you do have me curious now too. I will ask my bud with the gun store and see what Gary can find out. I will post his info when I have received it.

Just looking at the bullets, they are identical to Winchesters Ranger jhp. I know there is some collusion between IMI and WW on their 5.56, Q3131 and Q3131A. I would dearly love to get my hands on a few boxes of their Di-Cut 115 gr 9mm JHP's. Everyone of these that I've fired at animate targets has expanded very well with good penetration as well.

demented,

I will check with my buddy on the 9mm load. I am a big fan of the Q3131 load also. The first day I brought my 700PSS in 5.56 to our range, I had forgotten to bring my sniper loads to test. Our issued FMJ round at the time was the Q3131. I grabbed a couple of boxes as there was not way the rifle was going home clean, lol.

I was amazed at the group the first 5 rounds gave me. I had 3 in the same hole, with the other 2 slightly cloverleafed, for one very neat ragged hole. My respect for that round really went up that day. The rest of my groups looked very similar. Everyone who shot my rifle that day was impressed both with it and the ammo. I still have a ton of it in my ammo cabinet now too. When I found a really good round, it is hard for me just to send it down range to plink with.

I will see if my buddy can determine if the 9mm load is still availabe. If it is he may be able to give me a source that will sell to your direct.
