My dad is in the market for one of these, I know that surplus batches come into SOG and other outfits like that pretty regularly. If you see a good deal on one of these either on the net or in your local gunshop let me know. Thanks!

Chris,

How much is he willing to pay, and will he accept Nazi marks?

I know of a pawnshop in Vincennes IN that used to get them pretty regularly. If they still do this, the last one I looked at went for $800.

I liked the way it felt but didn't buy it for a couple of reasons: First, the price. I was a starving college student. Second, I won't own Nazi stuff.

I may still be able to get you in touch with them should you wish.

There is also a gunshop there and I was friends with the owner. He is an SOF guy, Desert Storm vet, and made all sorts of cool stuff, most of which would be illegal for me to own. However, he had contacts. Lots of them. He could get you danged near anything.

If he's still in business I may be able to get you in touch with him also.

Let me know and I'll see if either place is still around.

No, I think he wants a reasonably priced shooter, like one of those surplus P1's, but I will check with him. Thanks a lot guys!

Hi there all,

The deal is on the post WW II German P-38's with the aluminum frame that wholesale for about $289.00 from Southern Ohio Gun.

A friend bought one for a shooter and he is absolutely delighted with it.

The real deal P-08 Lugers and P-38's were wholesaling at about $739.00 and $539.00 respectively and increase according to handselecting certain date codes and markings.

Thanks, carolinaman! Yeah, I am steering him towards one of the surplus guns from SOG or a similar outlet. The only ones SOG has right now are "nazi marked" ones which are pricey and not what we are looking for. So I am biding me time for the moment. ;)

From what I've found in the past, usually lots of the P-1's are imported by Century Arms International who in turn wholesales them through distributors like Southern Ohio Guns.

Since they are sold to the distributors in large quanities, often as not, they are on the market for a long time, yet the importer may or may not advertise them.

The last monthly flyer I recieved from Century Arms, Int'l showed none, yet they are featured on page 7 of this months SOG flyer at $269.00.

I guess they may get sold off at or below cost depending on how bad the distributor wants to turn over their inventory as a "lost leader" sales item.
