Hey everyone.

Im thinking about getting one of these handguns from summitgunbroker. I was just wondering what everyones experience was with these handguns.

Thanks!

3,000+ rounds through mine not a single malfunction. I clean it, oil it, and shoot it. Factory 10 round magazines suffice for me(I don't CCW it), and they work great. I opted for the stainless model when I bought mine and it is simply flawless, that's all I can say about it.

I simply cannot say enough good about this pistol, I trust mine. A couple of things I would/have changed. The grip angle is great, but the lack of serrations or stippling anywhere provides for a very slippery grip if your hands are wet. So, my first solution was a Hogue Hand-All grip, but I found this to be a bit on the bulky side for me(it adds palm swells), so I removed it and put a strip of skateboard grip tape on the front and back straps. Now it sits perfect in my hand, even in 100+ Texas weather.

The only other thing and it's purely personal preference would be to change the sights, my gun still wears the stock 3-dots, but I've modified them a bit, by painting the front dot yellow to show up better against the white rear dots. If I was going to carry the piece, I would change the sights and have the front sight milled for a dovetail and add in XS Bar-Dots or something similar like Heines. This is purely personal as I've said, I find 3 horiztonal dots to simply be too "busy" for me to accurately and quickly line up. I much prefer a basic dot over bar or over a plain black sight.

Hope that helps! I wouldn't hesistate to buy another one...

Ah yes...the thoroughly despised and disrespected Ruger P95DC.

I've owned one for a long time, long enough that the gun store where I bought it has now been out of business for over 5 years. The P95 has had at least 3-4K rounds through it. From the day I bought it until today, it has NEVER failed to feed, fire extract or eject with any 9mm para ammo I've run through it, including +P and +P+ and all types of bullet shapes, sizes, weights and designs. It is combat accurate, which is to say that it is no target gun, but will hit what I'm aiming at regularly and with no fuss out to 25 yards...and probably beyond, but I've never tried it. I have a friend who is a multiple Sig owner who continues to be impressed at the reliability and accuracy of this pistol.

I have two minor criticisms of the gun:

1. The stock mag release sticks out far enough that if the gun was inside a hard-backed fanny pack, the mag release would sometimes activate and dump the mag on the ground. Solution? Ruger Customer Service made me up a set of mag releases similar to those they use on the P97 (another great pistol which I own and shoot) which are bevelled so they won't actuate on the draw. These work great. The factory charged me nothing for these and they even sent them free of charge when I told them I was putting them on a gun I use to carry off-duty.

2. The P95 is a bulky, large gun. The upside is that it is built like a tank and you'll never overstress it or wreck it...I believe mine will shoot with the Glocks in terms of reliability and longevity. The downside is that it makes the gun harder to carry concealed.

I have been very impressed by both the Ruger P95DC and P97DC and by Ruger Customer Service. The P95 is the gun I grab when bad things are happening and I have complete faith that it will function properly and save my life....it's very much the autoloader equivalent of the S&W Model 10. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this fine pistol to you.

The above posts pretty much says it all. My GF has a P95DC and she loves it. Never has any trouble with it. Breaks down easy for cleaning and lubing. The only change she requested was a new front site since she couldn't focus on it just being black.

So I put on a "HiViz" front sight, works great!
Also now you can get Mec-gar 15rd mags for the P95 I saw them available at Arizona Gun Runners for 19.95 in nickel.

Lot of pluses to this gun.

My friend got one from CDNN for (IIRC) $285. It's a superb gun and a phenomenal value.

I have a Springfield Armory 1911A1 stainless loaded. I have a Glock 27. I have several S&W 40 series pistols that have all been utterly reliable. I have several S&W revolvers that all shoot well.

If I had to trust the lives that I hold dear to a handgun, I'd grab my KP95DC before anything else I own.
Hello everyone

I have two a P95 and a P97
The P95 had a extractor problem it would not pull the
spent casing out , Since its been fixed I have not had
any problems.
My P97 has been great from day one.

Gumshoe, that is the most insanely good customer service I have ever heard of in my entire life.

They made you a part!?
I have had one for years!!
I got mine pretty much as they came out.
I've lost count as to the number of rounds I've put through it!!

I've had a P95 since '97, no malfunctions, feeds everything & reasonably accurate. Can't ask for much more than that at the price!

I think the polymer P95 and P97s are just a screaming bargain. I've shot Gil's, and they just perform, perform, perform - for half the price. :)

Hi, Chubby....Perhaps "made" me a part is not quite correct. The Ruger folks took a current issue set of mag releases (left and right) and shaved the finger contact areas so they were pretty much flat. They did this for free, then they sent the pieces to me by snail mail...all I had to do was install them.

But you won't get any disagreement from me. I was so impressed with Customer Service that I got the name of the gal who assisted me and I wrote the company president to let him know of the high quality customer service I had received. He wrote back thanking me for the letter and assuring me that a copy of my letter would be filed in her personnel file. Also gave me a Ruger patch which sits on my patch wall at work.

I definitely think that Ruger went over and above normal customer service in this particular case. Customer service and high-quality, reliable, strong firearms are primary reasons why I own and use the P95, a P97, an SP101, a Vaquero and a Mark I and also formerly owned a Redhawk blue .41 mag 5 1/2" (which I wish I still had!!). They make great pistols and revolvers and back them up.

Hey Stinger, how hard was it to install the front sight? I've been thinking about using my P95 in IDPA competition and wouldn't mind being able to see the sights better.
