P3AT magazines

To anyone's knowledge, are there any other manufacturers of .380 mags for Kel-tecs other than the factory-supplied Mec-Gars? I have heard reports and opinions from various members of this forum both praising and scorning Mec-Gar. I know that Kel-tec would not supply crappy mags with their pistols, but is MG really" the best a man can get"? ( Quoting an old ad slogan) I am thinking of buying a KT 380 and would like to get some opinions as to reliability, favorite loads, etc. I value the input of the faithful here and have enjoyed OGs KT 380 review from a couple of years back.

I purchased an extra Mec Gar for my P3, and it's exactly the same mag as the one which came in the gun. I've had no trouble with ANY MG magazines, from 1911, CZ, and BHP mags to the P3. That's about all I'll buy anymore.
As far as I know, Mec-Gar is the only source.
They have an exclusive contract with Kel-Tec to make mags.
Thanks for the input fellas. Your contributions make the hunt for a new gun a little easier.

Don't let the single supplier for mags disuade you from the P3AT.
It's a decent pocket pistol.
Mine gets carried a lot!!

Spare magazines, at least here in Central OH, can be difficult to locate. When I finally found one, I was told that Kel-Tec only allocates 3 extras per month per store. Don't know that it's true, but passing it along FWIW.

Hello,

+1 on Leland's comments:

I bought Mec Gar magazines for my P-3AT. Please be sure to clean the magazines before using! They have a greyish grit that causes the follower to drag slightly. Once cleaned, they function like a champ!

The majority of P-3AT malfunctions I've read and experienced are due to the cleanliness of the P-3AT and magazines themselves-- just like any other handgun. Until "shot in", they need to be kept cleaned religiously.
