No particular caliber, but would enjoy hearing your opinions/experiences with Winchester WhiteBox ammo compared to UMC either yellow box or the green/white box.
Both are the lowcost stuff found at Wal Marts. Please don't compare them to something else. But feel free to be critical.
Thanks,

OldGrandpa,

In my exerience the UMC is a bit dirtier. Other than that I find both good for practice.

I've carried neither for defensive use nor have I used any on critters- unless you want to count the 115gr WWB on squirrels, head shots, and then it really doesn't count for much.

Have been very pleased , especially for the price, with WWB in the following calibers.

100 round value packs of 45 acp 230 gn rnj.
Rounds are very accurate in every pistol tried. They are loaded long 1.260-1.275, which may cause difficulties in some pistols. They seem to be slightly hotter loaded at about 870-880 fps from 5 in. They also seem to leave substanciial and hard to remove "crud" , in the forcing cone of revolvers.

50 round 9mm 115 jrn 9mm (Q4172). These are acceptable accurate in every 9mm pistol tried, and very accurate in several. Totally reliable in every pistol tried.

100 round value pack .380. These are reliable and accurate in pistols tried. htye have truncated nose (flat point)

100 round 38 special fmj. Have only tried these in snubbie, not accuracy tested in longer barrels with sights.

All of the Win rounds leave ya with Win brass, which personally much prefer over Rem.

Have not tried the Rem value rounds, and likely won't because of past experience with Rem pistol rounds. Perhaps an unfair attitude? Do not like Rem pistol brass, and they seem to have difficulty in acheiving adequate case neck tension with the loaded rounds tried.

Hello,

I really like the Winchester White Box JHP & FMJ Ammo, I also think the White Box Hollow Points are every bit as good as the Winchester Silvertips.

I have never tried the Winchester Value Pack, and probally never will, based on everything I've read about it so far.

Hello
I seem to get considerably more muzzle flash with the Winchester over the Remington out of my P95. However the Winchester is a lot more accurate.

Recently, I purchased UMC in the following:9MM 115 HP,40 S&W 180 HP and 45 ACP 230 HP. These were 100 rounds per box and reasonable priced. All were accurate at 15 yards and had good recoil. The 9MM is a Glock 19, the 40 is a Glock 23 and the 45 a Ruger P90. I have shot the WW in 9Mm and accuracy was OK, the WW 165 gr 40 was pathetic at 10 yards and erractic in recoil and accuracy.

I, too, have found UMC generic to be much dirtier than Win-USA generic. Dirty enough that I won't buy UMC unless it's the only option.

It certainly has worked for me, though, although I recall finding it to not be as accurate as the USA or the Blazer cheap-o stuff.
