I man I did/do not know brought an old WW-2 Colt 1911 by today, said he'd heard that I could make it feed JHP's. The pistol had been refinished, whoever had done the job had ERASED/covered the serial number!!!

Whether the number was merely hidden by the parkerizing, I did not take the time to discover, I was as rude as I've ever been when showing him off my property. I do not know the legalities of this situation, don't intend on finding out either!

Poor guy got screwed though whe he bought it.
Did you tell him to do something with it ?

Normally, I go out of my way to keep from being even a bit rude to anyone. The fact that this guy appeared from nowhere, was vague as to where he heard about my hobby, etc. really made me nervous and to be honest, scared. I suggested that he contact his local sheriffs dept and go from there. I'd have said just about anything to get him away form my property, the thought of a visit from the ATFe is NOT appealing.

+1. Not something to mess with. I don't believe you're under any legal obligation to report this, under federal regs (and I'm not acquainted with Arkansas law), but you might want to run it by a sympathetic LEO.

Hello. It is a federal violation to be in possession of a firearm with an altered or obliterated serial number if the weapon had a serial number to begin with. The WW2 Colt would have.
