Hello to all you revolver fans;

I have a 3 1/2 inch N frame S&W .357. It has 5 screw frame. The serial number is S108343 which is marked inside the under lug of the barrel and on the breach end of the cylinder. Another number, 22709 is on the frame just above where the crane assembly joint is located. The same number is marked on the crane assembly and when the cylinder is closed the position of the two numbers almost overlap each other. Any information is appreciated.
Thank You

The serial number dates it to 1954-1955. Upper sideplate screw was dropped in 1956 at S/N S171584.

This info per the Supica and Nahas book.

Nice old piece.

Hope this helps.

Pat

You're more than welcome.

Glad I could help. I don't often get a chance to contribute but I do have a few references on S&W's.

Arisaka;
On a 5-screw the serial number appears in 3 places (one on the bottom of the grip frame in addition to the 2 you mention).

The number on the yoke and cylinder window is an assembly number.

Nice find!

If you don't want it, a lot of other folks will be willing to take it off your hands, including me.

This is one of my favorite revolvers...
