i talked to a snith and wesson agent on the phone he said that the 1991 too 1998 guns had no min parts in then and just as strong as the new guns ?? is this true give me alittle history on this guys ??

Hello. I cannot provide the date at which MIM parts usage began with S&W. I can say that I own S&W revolvers with and without these parts. In addition to the MIM parts there have been some changes to the internal design of the gun.

My older S&W's work fine and I've had exactly zero problems with my newer Model 642's which do have MIM.
