Right now Natchez Shooters Sports (https://www.natchezss.com/) is selling Blazer 9mm 115gr FMJ for $4.99/50-round-box if you buy 20 or more boxes. I've been tracking 9mm ammo prices at various websites and in stores here in San Antonio in anticipation of making a bulk buy of practice ammo, and that is a great price for 9mm. So I ordered 40 boxes. With shipping, that works out to just over 11 cents a round, which is quite bit cheaper than the others.

I've read a couple grumbles about the aluminum case at other forums, but I've tested this in all my 9mm pistols, and it shoots well. I sent back one pistol for warranty repair that had all kinds of problems ejecting other brands' cases, but it always cycled Blazer properly.

Plus, I don't mind leaving the aluminum cases behind at the public range. My reloading habits taught me to save my own once-fired brass -- Altho I don't reload 9mm, it always grates on me to not be able to pick up and save my own once-fired brass. With aluminum, I don't care.

I've bought 4 or 5 cases of this 9mm Blazer ammo from Natchez (three in .45!), and it's worked well for me (although it stuck pretty bad in my 940 - 940s are odd, though). I've given up on it, though, because when I factor in the shipping costs, I'm just barely saving money over the WWB deal at Wal-Mart.

I certainly endorse Natchez and the Blazer deal, though.

Erich,

You're right, shipping costs can eat you up, but I've been updating a little spreadsheet with ammo prices locally and on the web, including both the local sales tax and shipping costs. For smaller amounts, buying it off the web is more expensive, but if I buy a case or two, and the web vendor has a sale going on, then there are some significant savings. Shipping costs start out as a big factor, but as you add more ammo, it becomes a smaller and smaller percentage. Sales tax stays the same percentage no matter how much you buy.

And 4.99 a box really is a good price!

ELB,

In the future, you might note that Academy Sports & Outdoors has 9mm CCI Blazer and Winchester White Box permanently on sale. CCI is $3.86 a box and WWB is $4.86 a box, doesn't matter if you buy one or hundred boxes.

www.academy.com Shows 7 Academy locations in the San Antonio area. I buy all my 9mm from Academy...unfortunately, they DON'T have a decent price on .45, .32, or .38. :( But at least the 9mm is a good buy!

Rob/RandomMan,

Grrr. hate it when that happens. Very peculiar tho, I went by my local Academy Sports around Christmas checking several calibers of ammo, and I didn't note any deals in 9mm. ?? But it sure shows up on their website. Rats. Oh well, next time. Need some .40 also, guess I'll go check on that now.

Thx!

ELB,

Sometimes I find them to be out of stock and therefore they never mention the price. This may have been the case for you, especially around Christmas time.

I haven't found a store that doesn't honor the "Everyday Low Price" deals on their website, but you never know...some stores may vary.

Good luck and enjoy shooting...I figure it doesn't matter how much we pay, just as long as we shoot, practice, and have fun.
