I picked up some more of this stuff. It is made by IMI and the cases are plastic. Sort of a Tan color and this stuff is great in my DPMS M4. 16".

It comes in FMJ and Tracer. I have both but I have not used the tracer due too range regs. If you can find it try it out. I plan to get more when I drive back out there.

I got a couple of boxes of it more out of curiosity than anything, but I haven't yet shot any of it. As I remember, the price was really too good to beat.

Let us know if and when you try it. I'm interested in knowing how it functions.

Plastic-cased 5.56 by IMI??? Sure it's not PCA? If IMI, please post pics of the box and rounds.

Howdy folks,

I have always liked the IMI ammo, but have to admit this plastic cased round is a new on me for me too. As Mr. LelandRay mentioned, I would be interesting in hearing your thoughts when you are able to shoot it too.

It truly is a Ford-Chevy issue to me sir. But I have a limited amount of 5.56 tracer rounds, that I kept at least one 30 round mag loaded with - just in case I needed it. I did shoot enough of it to confirm it would feed and function in my issued CAR-15.

But to be candid, I am not crazy about shooting a tracer our of Uncle Sugar's rifle. I am even less enthusiastic to be firing the round through a personally owned CAR rifle, lol.

I am curious to hear your thoughts on this one too sir.

Other than an overall reduction in accuracy, tracer ammo should have absolutely no adverse effect on your rifle or barrel. It should act exactly like ball ammo.

The Tracer ammo is in fact PCA. I must have placed it in a IMI ammo box when I was cleaning out half boxes of ammo. But I do have 4 boxes of the PCA plastic tracer left and I will let you guys know my findings after I shoot it.

jonnyc, Why not in a fluted chamber? I don't know if my DPMS M4 even has a fluted chamber but I could call them and find out.

I'd hazard a guess it's because of inconsistent cartridge support.
