I'm looking for a set of grips for my colt single action nikelplated, I want something nice but not to pricy (expensive)?

I think ajax fake bufalo horn ones would fill the niche, waht do you think?

Back about 1962 I picked up a 1st gen. SAA (mfd. 1882; paid $84 for it) in nickel that had an awful set of plastic "stag" grips. Managed to find a suitable block of walnut and used an old discarded, sharpened screwdriver as a chisel, and made a replacement set of one-piece grips for it. Turned out pretty good and still have the gun with those grips mounted on it. Sometimes I have trouble believing I really did it with that dumb screwdriver "chisel". Anyway, the dark walnut sort of offsets the nickel nicely.

Today you can get a set of blanks quite reasonably for the one-piece grips from Dixie Gun Works.

Might be a fun project and if it turns out you too can brag about your craftsmanship.
