Anybody familiar with this brand? Have heard good things about this ammo so ordered 100 rds of their version of the FBI load to
run through my snub.

The only question is, I normally use the Remington flavour of the FBI load, as Mr Camp has pointed out in his tests the lead seems softer and expands better. But if the lead used in the GA arms is prone to the same expansion, a switch might be in order.

I get can 100 rds, delivered full cost for $ 27 or about HALF the going rate of Remington's FBI load, which makes a switch as a snub carry round appealing.

Well Mr Camp, I emailed them and they said their G38E was their version of the FBI round. At $ 19/100 rds (before shipping) I figured it was worth a shot (no pun intended
).

Worst case is I get some more plinking info for my M85 Taurus snub - and I am rapidly finding out with a snub you can never practice "too little".

I've been using Ga Arms ammo for maybe 10 years now. Literally thousands of .38 wadcutters, .40S&W ball, .45AR, plus a few rounds of other stuff from time to time.

I'm quite satisfied with it, although some of it doesn't seem to quite make the velocities listed.

They list some stuff the Majors don't load anymore, like jacketted .32S&W Long and plain lead .45 Auto Rim. They're also the only affordable source of stuff like .32H&R Mag. Friend used some of their 10mm 155gr Gold Dots on deer; awesome performance.

If you live within driving range of a show they attend you save shipping. They do volume pricing and have always let me mix loads to get the discount.

They're also very nice folks. :)

Regards,

Pat

I tried to order some ammo from them for my Makarov, which they advertise as making. It took them a month to send me a check for the amount I had sent them, with a note on the bottom that said "out of 9x18". I will never order from them again.

I bought one of their ammo boxes of 30 carbine at a gun show and it shoots just as well (if not better) than any of the major manufacturers' ammo in my M1 carbine. It was a good price and they were nice (but busy) people.

Just read Mr Camp's very detailed and capable posting on his use of the GA FBI load. It confirmed my thoughts on this ammo when I first reveived my rounds from GA.

I did a side by side comparison of the GA FBI load to Remington's and immediately thought it would be a worse choice for SD, due to the small and shallow HP on the GA ammo. It also appeared the lead in this round was thicker and harder than Remington's, meanng expansion from a snub could be iffy at best.

BUT....if it duplicates Remington's POA performance, it will be a dandy round to practice with, at under $ 10 / 50 rounds.

So the solution remains - GA is cheap enough to provide lots of solid practice, but keep your snubby loaded with Remington's round. You have the best of both worlds there.

ccwman,
I ordered some Mak ammo a couple of years ago. It took quite a while to get it. When I called them up, they said they were waiting on Gold Dot bullets to load. Apparently the "bastard" size of 9x18 isn't always available. Haven't shot any of it, it's still just sitting in a drawer.

I have shot 9mm ammo that my father-in-law bought several years ago from Georgia Arms. We ran it through his little S&W bottom-feeder without any hiccups.
