Well it is a long sad story about an old man what can't make up his mind an stick to his guns.
Been looking for a 1911 in .38 Super, 9x23, or 10mm. Yessir that was my goal, my quest, what I was gonna do.
This little zipper had none of the things I was all about, It is plastic, small bullet, NOT a 1911--no sir this thing was useless to my needs.
Tell you more after I shoot it.
Blessings

Bill and all,

The 5.7 was an interesting experiment. Supposed to be the end all/be all of the melding of SMG and Assault rifle.

Yes, it does penetrate some armor, but so do a lot of rounds....

The Five-Seven pistol is arse UGLY! On the other hand the P90 has rakish good looks and looks cool enough to use in the Star Gate series.

Both interesting designs. Ammo is hard to get/expensive. Still, it's a nice to play with option. Wouldn't carry it for all the tea in China! The 5.45 x 39 and our 5.56 x 45 are far superior.

Still, wish I had the cash flow to get one or both and "play".

Let us know your opinion of the pistol, Bill.

As a friend said about guns, "need has nothing to do with it" !

Today, I don't know of any units/departments using the round.

As an aside, a number of years ago the P90 was used in a terrorist/hostage rescue by one of the South American Countries. The had been using UZI's.
After the smoke cleared they quietly went back to the UZI.

I did get to shoot a P90 with suppressor. Cool! On the other hand "cool" doesn't have much stopping power...

Enjoy your new pistol.

I think it would make a hell of a house or car gun though...basically a pocket assault rifle. Pretty flat shooter I hear ...the Hp might be an interesting stopper. We'll see...

Hi Wes,

The South America country is Peru, when the Japan Ambassy was occupied by terrorists who retain +100 hostages. Peru Special Forces waited for month, training with Britain instructors who brought P90. The salvage was called success: hostages alive and all terrorists dead...

I would not compare the round with 5,45 x 39 or 5,56 x 45 as the 5,7 was developped as a new SMG/pistol cartridge with more range and penetration than 9 para. The HK 4,7 is another similar attempt.

Bye

L.

YUP, the FN5. Mine is in the single action, tactical version. It is ugly, as are all the plastic guns, IMO. Still I became very one with this little zipper yesterday.
500 rounds at an indoor range, 5, 10, 15 yards. Did as well with it as any I have, which is a few more than I need.
Recoil was great, as in almost none. Muzzel flip was almost none existant, I shoot one handed. Recoil was felt in the hand, as in the recoil settled in my hand.
The trigger is light, 3 pounds by advertisment, and very soft. Can go thru a 10 round clip and keep it on target in six seconds, by my counting.
If I can find some leather too fit it will be my carry weapon.
Blessings

I have shot one. Recoil is much less than a 9mm and not much more than a .22LR. I'd buy one, but at $17 for 50 rounds (the best price I've seen) I could not afford to shoot it.

Just got one of these fine firearms! Still working on getting ammo for it. In another post it says FN may be stopping the import of ammo. Hope this does not happen or that someone else begins to make the stuff.

As said earlier in this thread, it is like having a rifle packaged into a handgun, wonderful concept if you ask me!

Don't have to worry about ammo FN is still bringing it in but it will be labeled SS196SR sold for the same price. This is the commercial brand, the original will be sold only to LE and military. The bullet will be supplied by Hornady, it's a 40gr round and I'm sure that they or others will soon have a Die set for reloaders (Save your brass).

RC

By the way there's a guy on the AR15 forum selling SS192, asking $40.00 a box and has 1000 rds currently available with more to spare. Talk about blatant exploitation of the elimination of a specific round even though there is another to take it's place. I do hope there is no response to his thread.
