1. Always treat firearms as if they are loaded.

2. Always point the muzzle away from anything you're not willing to destroy.

3. Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire.

4. Always be sure of your target and backstop.

Thanks Mr Smith,

I would add that Number 2 is difficult in crowded living conditions in combat situations. Even if you keep your muzzle pointed to the floor you have a problem if the floor is not nice soft sand or mud or anything not containing something off of which a round can ricochet. Also when cleaning a weapon you have to have it lying on a bed or something with no way of preventing friends from passing in the way of the muzzle. So I would like to suggest that numbers 1, 3 and 4 are the most important. Number 2 is to be tried for but not always easy. Very best to all, Yeruham
