I recently purchased a Sig P229 (.40 S&W) and I am wanting to put a few hundred rounds through it to break it in. I was wondering what is a good quality yet affordable ammo to take to the range.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I like Winchester White Box pretty well.

I'll move your post on down to Caliber Discussion, you'll probally get more feedback down there.

I'm starting to develop a fondness for Remington UMC in .45 ACP. Winchester White Box is good stuff too though, I've probably shot four or five thousand rounds of it in various calibers with absolutely zero problems.

CCI Blazer(aluminum cased) if it functions properly in your gun works great and can save you some on cash. I've shot several thousand rounds of this too with no problems. In some guns it may cause function issues, so your mileage may vary.
