Do changing recoil springs reduce recoil?

Just a quick question.

Does changing the recoil spring from the factory recoil spring to a heavier one actually reduce the amount of felt/percieved recoil from a semi-automatic pistol?

The reason for this post is that I changed the factory recoil spring in my Glock G-23 from the 18# one to a heavier 22# one with a new guide rod in anticipation of reducing the amount of felt recoil which will vary with different factory loads. I did not change them for reliablility reasons.

Sir,

I believe it changes the feel- a heavier spring would cause a longer recoil curve than a light spring.

Going to a heavier one will give you more impact on the return of the slide, causing the gun to dip when the slide comes to rest.
