I'm getting rid of guns I don't shoot much or which can't be used for some practical purpose, but of course I'm keeping my CZ, and I'm thinking of carrying it some after I find appropriate leather. My current carry ammo for the BHP is the 124-grain Federal Hydra Shok, which should also work well in the CZ. Any other ammo you've found particularly good / effective / accurate / powerful for a stock CZ?

Larry and all,

I can't vouch what the best ammo is for the CZ. Since they feed damn near anything I would get some samples of "what's working" and give it a try. It may cost a few bucks, but your peace of mind is worth it.

I know this doesn't help, so I'll go out on a limb. I like Cor-Bon's ammo. Both 9mm(115/125) and their .40 S&W(135's).

I have half a dozen boxes of the 125-grain Cor Bon stuff on the way, and I'll fire some through the CZ to make sure everything works well. To date it's never failed to fire or feed, so we'll see what happens. I also need to do some testing on a couple of Brownings.

The 125 Cor Bon load is more potent than any .38 Special and begins to approach the performance of the 125-grain "magic bullet" in .357 loading. I can't think of anything more supportive of one's peace of mind than to have a dozen or more rounds of really potent .355 diameter ammo close at hand, especially in platforms as reliable and ergonomically comfortable as the CZ or BHP.

On the CZ Forum a long time ago I tried to identify ammo that DIDN'T work well in CZs. No such luck. These suckers are like diesel: they'll run on pretty much anything.

Some on that forum have said CZ chambers are pretty tight; so ammoo does need to be in spec diminsionaly.

It's really, really good to hear this. I got the CZ from a friend who bought it from a shop he worked in back during the mid 90s. It was in like new condition and came with three extra, brand new factory magazines. At the time I thought I might be paying a tad much for it, but having seen the prices on new guns, I figure I did okay.

This is a shooter's handgun, which is why it's on my "never sell or trade" list.
