Just purchased a Charles Daly HP (from Ordnance Outsellers in Florida). I picked it up yesterday, so I haven't had an opportunity to fire it yet. But the finish on the slide is excellent, and the slide-to-frame fit is very tight. Plus, even though I haven't fired the weapon yet, I like the XS Express Sights on it.

If anyone out there also owns a Daly HP, I would be interested in your feelings about its performance, etc.

Happy new year to all.

kkramer673,

There was a review of the CD Hi Power in the August 2004 issue of the American Rifleman you may want to check out. In general, the review was very positive; the bottom line was that the gun was a solid value, quite reliable, but (at least their test gun) might benefit from a bit of work to smooth out the trigger pull.

Let us know how it shoots!

Hi there,

When I called Charles Daly to register the warranty of my Feg PJK-9 HP, I inquired into the source of the Daly Hi-Power's origins and was told that it was assembled from FEG parts here in the U.S.

If it is finished and fit like my FEG, you are going to love shooting it!!! I shoot my FEG more than any other handgun I own and shoot it better than more expensive pistols in its class!

I would enjoy owning a Charles Daly, but alas, "so many pistols and so little time..."

Let us know how your shooting impressions are...I don't put as much stock in gun reviews as I do the actually owners of firearms that are truly carried and field tested.

Chris

kkramer673, I hope the pistol works well for you. I own a FEG, it is no BHP, and I doubt the Charles Daly is either. My FEG is a good buy for the money but its interior has a lot of machine marks. I would have told you to save for a little longer and buy the real thing. Regards, Richard:D

I took my new Charles Daly HP to the range for its "maiden voyage" today. I live in Maine, and it was in the mid-20s, so I only shot 100 rounds of Winchester Value Pack ammo.

After purchasing the pistol a couple of days ago, I disassembled, cleaned and lubricated it thoroughly. (It was pretty dirty from the test firing.)

The initial 100 rounds of FMJ I shot cycled perfectly, and the accuracy from 10 yards was very good with the XS sights. There were no FTFs or FTEs.

I also own a 1984 chrome Browning High Power, and my initial impression is that the Daly gives it a run for its money. Of course, 100 rounds does not a legend make!

Regardless, the Charles Daly HP cost me about $370 from Ordnance Outsellers, and it's a terrific value.
