Hello. We have more than a few fans of the 1911, CZ guns, Hi Power, and SIG-Sauer pistols here, but I reckon we have some Glockers, too. I have but one right now; it is a Glock 26 that I bought and used as a BUG in police work.

In 9mm, which are your favorites and if not too much trouble, why do you prefer one model over another?

Thanks in advance.

Best.

Hi there Stephen,

My favorite 9 mm Glock is the Model 19 due to its controllability and concealability.

In my opinion, the G-17 is too large for concealed carry on an average size man, and the G-26 is too small for rapid fire controllability in my larger than average hands. The magazine extensions for the G-26 just seem to add height to the package.

Hello and thank you. Your response is very similar to what I've heard from other folks who've carried the Glock for "serious purpose" and seems to be the same for some of my friends who primarily use 1911's, but do own a Glock or two as well.

Thanks for your post.

Best.

I am not what you would call a big Glock fan. They are good guns but I just don't care for them. Having said that, however, I must admit to having owned several, a 26 which was just too close in size to the 19 I had to justify it's continued presence in my collection. The 19 is, in my opinion, the best gun Glock makes. It is a really good balance of size, weight, capacity and power. I also used to own a 34 that I used for IDPA competition. For that purpose it was really hard to beat. But, like I said, I really don't like Glocks so all of them are gone now and I am in the process of acquiring a Sig 228. :)

I would agree that the G19 is my favorite: it's the perfect size to shoot, reasonably easy to conceal, holds an acceptable number of rounds, and it has a full 4" barrel (polygonally rifled, even). :)

However, I own a G26. It's eminently concealable - the size of my Colt Agent, holds a decent number of rounds, reloads quickly, and shoots passably well. (I usually carry the G26 in with a couple of G17 mags in reserve, although I have 3 of the G18 mags floating around in case TEOTWAWKI hits.)

Hmmm. I'll have to think about this for awhile.

Okay. I've got it. My favorite is the G19 I bought today. It's my first and only Glock. I favor the G19 for all the reasons previously stated.

I picked up a G-19 in December. For me it's got the best balance of size/capacity/handling. I've shot the G-26 and the 27, and I may someday get a 26.

SAC, my favorite 9mm Glock is a G27 with a 9mm and 357 Sig barrels. After that, I love my G23 with a Bar-Sto 9mm barrel, and lastly I like my G19. These are all fine handguns. Regards, Richard

Glock 34. There's something wonderful about a gun that shoots almost as well as my .45s and is so much easier to clean. If you guys haven't tried a 34/35, you're missing out!

I purchased a G19, Gen 2 which I had for about 6 months...............

Till I sold it and replaced it with a Springfield XD in 9mm.

for me, the XD is just more comfortable. The G19 is a rock, always dependable, but I could not get used to the feel of the grip

I got a 19 in November of last year.

It came with a Hogue grip, adjustable night sites, and a 3.5# connector. I couldnt ask for more.

I took the grip off to see what it felt like, and I would agree with most people, it isnt the best in the world. The Hogue really does help.

So far I only put around 550 rounds through it, all without a single problem.

I only have 15 rounders, one with a +2 extension, but I would really like a 33 round magazine.

I think the 19s biggest advantage is the ability to be easily conceiled, while still accepting all magazines, 15 rounds to 33. :) It also holds a 4 inch barrel, which is fine fore 99 percent of all SD loads.

I really like the 17. I would like to try the longer barreled model which I think is the 35. It feels nice but I have never shot one.

Glock 26, with Pearce grips extension (no +):

- the small size and light weight balance the ugly look

- the reasonnably price makes it a expendable piece in case of a shooting

- it is easy to shoot well

But my motto still is "Life is too short to shoot Glocks"

Bye

I like the 17 the best of all the glocks. I shoot it the best of any non 1911 I have ever used and I don't carry the 17 for CCW so the size is not a issue.

I really want to try a 34. From what I hear they are awesome.

I have owned and used almost every double stack duty type 9mm over the years and the Glock 17 is the only one I have not sold. It is right at home with the true classics in my safe, S&W revolvers and 1911's.

I only have one Glock 9mm.
Actually two!!
My wife and I have his and hers Glock 26s!!!!

I used to have a Glock 19, but, traded it away to a friend whose wife "insisted" he buy a 10mm (G29).

One trip to the range convinced her otherwise and she then "insisted" he "get rid" of it ASAP!!!

It was a mercy trade. ;)

I may yet pick up another G19 one of these days!!
