I've got 3 browsers on my computer, Chrome, IE and Safari but mostly use Chrome. Popups are disabled but I still get popups on this forum. Those popups actually started a couple of months ago for me. In fact, as I type this, I'm looking at a popup at the bottom of gt40doc's last post. When they first started to appear I figured it was a way for the forum to help pay for itself. If that is true, then I can live with them and, for the most part will simply ignore them. If not, then I'd too would like to get rid of them.

Seems like i saw the pop-ups about the same time, for the first time. Right now the pop up advertisement is for mutual Funs? I use Chrome, on my computer. I can live with the Advertisement. I'm just Curious myself.

It appears as though this ad dilemma is occurring to many/most of us. Hopefully the Admin. can clear it up and make it disappear!!

Folks,

I am not quite sure if the owner of the this site has the capability to restrict/remove advertising since it pays for the site. When I was a regulator here, Josh Smith and Steve Camp could pay the host a small fee to keep the site "ad free".

Again, I suggest that if it really bothers you go to CNET and download the "free" AD BLOCKER PLUS software and you won't see any advertising or pop ups on any site that you visit.

Best,

Chris

Chris, please distinquish between the standard ads that are in the headers as we log in, and ads that appear as part of a message. We are all used to the ads on the log on page, it is these new ads, in a new place, that are puzzling me. If they are sanctioned by the admin, and contribute to the maintenance of the website, fine, but if they are rogue or malware infections, we need to know, too.

Thanks.

G

Also what George said and what I said before that. If it helps the forum financially or some other way, then I can live with it. If, OTOH, its some advertising pushing itself in with no benefit to the forum, then it/they should go.

Is everyone getting these pop ups the same place I am? For me the new pop ups always appears within the very first post on a given page. The rest of the posts on a given page are pop up free. Go to page 2 of a subject and there's another pop up within the very first post at the top of the page with subsequent posts on the page ad free . I might add that the popup usually changes to a different ad each time I visit the page.

Hey folks,

I don't get any advertising banners or pop-ups using ABP. You folks really need to look into it.
