Ruger Security Six

Well it took several years but I finally found a decent Security Six with the 2.75" barrel. For me that' s a bonus because I like short barreled revolvers. Won it about a week ago at an auction. The wining bid was $450, but after I paid the various fees and taxes it was $541.85 (I'm not kidding). It was an on-line auction, but the company is only a few miles from my place so I was able to drive over and give it thorough exam before the bidding took off in earnest. Got in a bit of a bidding war with others, but I was determined and my pockets were deeper (this time). It's a 151 prefix and a serial number search shows it being made approximately 1975. Placed it next to my GP100 3" for the sake of comparison. You know people talk about certain Colts and Smith & Wessons being hard to find, but I have had a heck of a time locating a nice Security Six...or a Police Six/Speed Six. This one took a few years. I've actually been saving up for one of the new Pythons, but I didn't want to let this one go so I dipped it into my savings. That's okay I can build the account back up and eventually the 2020 Python will be around in large numbers (hopefully with all the bugs worked out of the design as well). The Security Six isn't coming back. Well at least I haven't heard anything. I picked up the larger target grips from AR-7. AR-7 is a company in Connecticut which specializes in selling hard to find rifle, shotgun and handgun grips. The grips are reproductions made in Italy, but they'll do for now.
