S & W Stealth Hunter loads

Need your assistance working up loads for the new pistol.

My two common loads are a working/general purpose load consisting of Leadheads 250 KTSWC, 8.5 gr W-W 231, WLP primer, Winch brass with a heavy crimp. This gives me about 1,050 FPS and is a good accuracy/general purpose load. It will handle about anything I'm likely to run into in a non-hunting environment.

My "heavy" load is the same, but consisits of 21.0 to 22.0 grains of 2400. More or less the "classic" Keith load for cast bullets in the .44 Magnum.

Anyone have any jacketed bullet loads that they recommend?

I have some older 240 grain Remington JHP's over 24.0 of W-W 296 that are scary accurate, but are also a real handful.

Your input is solicited...

Is there something in particular you are seeking ? In general , I have gotten good results with IMR 4227. As long as you are not obsessed with extreme velocity, my accuracy has ranged from pretty good to outstanding with cast or jacketed. Try 21-22ish with a 240 .

Thanks for the reply. Not really trying for anything particular. Accuracy with all my loads, to date, has been more accurate than I am.

The general purpose load I mentioned cuts ragged holes and the WW296 load went into 1 1/2" at 25 yards. Not sure I'm capable of much better accuracy than that.

The classic "Keith" load using 2400 has always given top velocity and accuracy. For heavy cast bullets it's still my "go to" load.

Can't vouch for the 300-320 grain stuff. I've always felt if you really needed that much bullet weight in a pistol you should be reaching for a rifle...

After all, a heavy 250 grain KTSWC can go end to end on a blacktail. I need more penetration than that for deer?
