My thanks to Stephen A. Camp

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and commend Stephen A. Camp for his contributions to my education as a firearm enthusiast. I have found him to be an outstanding writer of gun related topics.

His range reports and commentaries about specific handguns have done much to not only educate me over the years but to also make my entire experience with firearms safe and pleasurable.

I appreciate his intellect, writing style and willingness to pass on to those such as me who want to become more knowledgeable and safer gun handlers.

Hello and thanks so much! (I wish my observation skills were a bit better! Just got done mowing the back yard (2 acres!) It's been years since I saw a bumble bee nest on the ground; wish I'd spotted this one before I ran over it with the mower. I'm sure glad that the mower shuts off when you get off of it. Apparently, I can still run ... and a little faster than I thought I could. I was motivated and by golly, not one of the little demons got me!)

Anyway, thanks very, very much for the kind words. Right now I am working on an article on the FNX9 pistol.

Best.

Stephen, we have got to capture some of your nature-dodging moves on video. Was this latest escapade anything like your 'Tarantula Dance' of a few years back?

I'd like to echo AimTrue's sentiments.

I don't remember how I managed to stumble upon the Hi Powers and Handguns site but a little over six months ago I did. Finally, a source of valuable and thoughtfully presented information. I've since read two of Mr. Camp's books, J Frame and Defensive, dozens of his articles and dozens of informative threads here.

Finding Mr. Camp's site and this forum have given direction to what had been a disorganized and discouraging attempt to learn how to carry safely and effectively. And while I'll never have the knowledge or experience of the contributors here, I am grateful for the information he has made available and for the thoughtful posts contributors to this forum make.

Many thanks to all.

Hello and thanks very much to all. The crew here does its best to keep a civil forum, but one that strives to share its collective knowledge at the same time.

Best and thanks again.

I agree with all the other responses. I found Hi-Powers and Handguns by a google search looking for information on my favorite all time revolver the S&W model 10. I read and enjoy all of Stephen's articles about the model 10 and others handguns and ammo tests. In my humble opinion Stephen is the best writer of handguns and such going now. Although I am not the biggest contributor to the forum I do spend quite a bit of time reading all the posts.
Thanks Stephen for your great knowledge in handguns and its been a learning tool for me.
Regards,
Howard Pittman

I just learned today of the passing of Mr. Camp. The deep sorrow I feel no doubt echos the pain members of this forum are experiencing.

It is not often that a man comes on the scene that is so genuine. In my dealings with him, I found Mr. Camp to be wholly decent, knowledgeable and generous with his time to me when I sought his help.

I cannot recall reading one of his posts in any gun forum where he responded to a question with other than courtesy and clear information. Mr. Camp was a gentleman and a man of real class.

I am honored and grateful to have known him even if it was only through correspondence.

May his family find peace and comfort by the heart-felt praise being posted in the various gun forums. It is well deserved!

God bless this fine man.

Maurice

aimtrue,

Thank you for your kind words about Stephen. He will be sorely missed and it's up to all of us to pick up the torch and continue in his absence.

We have a BIG set of shoes to fill.

Kind Regards,

Wes
