Can anyone tell me the make and model of the .45 1911 handgun in the first picture? I really like the sleek look of it. I did not see the manufacturer or the model.
Thanks |

Hello and thanks. The gun in question started life as a Colt Series 70 Gov't Model. Gunsmith, Lou Williamson, did the milling and addition of the S&W K-frame revolver sights and the black parkerized finish as well as having some parts hard chromed and checkering the front strap and a few other things.

Mr Camp did you ever have the S&W sight shear off/ I love the S&W sight on the 45 but the only one I ever had sheared off at the Second Chance Shoot many years ago so I guess I got spooked. I have a new series 70 that i am thinking about sending to Kings to get set up just about like yours Sights, Beavertail , Commander ect but still just wondering

Hello. No, sir. That is the original setup from the '80's. What is not clear in the picture is that the gunsmith attached the S&W sight with a larger diameter screw than S&W uses when mounted the sight on their revolvers due to the different forces involved.

Thanks Mr Camp I may see if Kings will do that. When mine shered off at second chane Austin Belhert was there fixing guns he driled out the old screw and tapped new threds and put in his own screw. (Wish I had kept that gun) I went back and reshot but I guess I just never got over that darn sight flying off

I have had issues with the Elliason rear sight on a Colts Gold Cup slide that flew off into the neverworld many years ago. The older I get the more I like fixed rear sights but I have had the S&W melted into a few slides over the years.
