Larry Davidson Grips

I ordered some grips from the maker above as I had heard good things about him. He makes them to order and the normal wait is about two weeks. Though his hi power grips are not visible on the website, he told me he can make any of his 1911 styles for the hi power. He also does color combinations. I wanted a set of bio hazard Ball'R grips for the 1911. I have a couple of sets of black rubber still on stainless and hard chrome. When he said I could get them in hi power as well, I jumped at the opportunity.

His grips have nicely rounded or radiused edges instead of the flat edges and the shouldered/cornered rear edge of some grips out there. However, they are not fat by any means. I find them slightly smaller in the hand than the mil-tac. I find that measurements of various points do not tell the whole story. The over all profile of the grips in the hand tell more for me and I like these.

I installed these quickly on a mil surp hi power for feel o meter and picture purposes. Pardon the mil surp grip screw!

The ball pattern, while similar in appearance to gunner grips, do not have the gunner style cratered edge around the ball. They are smoother. The bio hazard symbol does not alter the texture and was an appearance option only I added for personal reasons. You can get Ball'R without bio hazard.

SS:
I would say they are similar on the edges without the palm swell in the middle. In G-10, I think the mil tac is closest to the Spegal. Here are the 1911 Ball'R.
Let me know if you can make contact with the cz fan sales fellow.

Larry will make hi-power grips that are pretty much as slim as Navidrex thin black micarta. I have a set in his Chaos pattern that are very, very slim.

Thanks for the thread. I put thin Navridex on my Hi Powers some years ago, but I may try a set of these and see how they fit me.

For those that were considering Davidson Grips, you are now too late. I believe he has closed up shop.
