A Browning Hi-Power approval process for U.S. citizens. You have to apply to get a BHP. You have to show that you:
- have not supported those that would take our constitutional rights away.
- know the words to the pledge of allegiance.
- love your Momma.
- show that your Dad knocked the crap out of you when you deserved it.
- you have only eaten tofu because you thought you were biting into a block of lard.
- are offended that others are so easily offended.
- can sit on your front porch, keep your mouth shut, and mind your own business.
- thinks that a P51, F86, F16, or F22 are totally cool.
- stand and place your hand on your heart when the flag is presented.

The BHP is fine for me as it ships.

YES! And F-80s and T-33s are way cool too for extra points!

Recently FN seems to constantly be on the verge of ceasing production of the HP. Consequently, I don't think I'd be making any demands of the company. Any criticisms I have of the design are easily remedied by me once I have the pistol in-hand.

Hi guys! Post number two here. While I understand many of your preferences, I recognize some as not likely and/or easily remedied in post factory ways. I happen to need the current ambi and want to keep it. Heaven knows I have spent time without several bhps while getting them installed.

I have mouse traps, non mouse traps and factory installed bumpers and standard base plates. My only preference is that when I buy one used it comes with the proper mags for the year of production and variation.

Firing pin safeties I have with and without and there is no question as to whether any attorney in his right mind would advise the company to do away with it or the mds. I have a pre firing pin safety slide to use for instant trigger improvement on a newer frame when needed. Colt has dropped the series 80 in limited production and kept it in standard production. In each case the price is higher. Could that extra change be going towards a higher insurance premium?

Speaking of the mds, I used to get rid of it in every case. Now, I am leaving some in.

I want different grips and improved or aftermarket fixed sights. I dislike both the factory plastic and wood and those bars on the sights and the recesses they are in. Now grips are a quick fix but sights require some time and some transit if you live in small town.

Chuntaro, welcome to the Forum! I have read your posts on other forums for some time and I hope that you find a home here.
I am looking forward to reading your future offerings.

Welcome Chuntaro.

I guess the most important thing is that they don't stop making them! Not until I have bought a few more anyway. ;-)

Trooper, the rumor that FN will stop making BHPs has been around for more than 10 years now. I have it filed in the "BELIEVE IT WHEN YOU SEE IT" file.

Has anyone seen a 2011 date code serial number bhp for sale in the US? I was told there are none available due to the remaining presense of 2010s.

I have not. I bought my BHP's this spring and they have spring '09 dates on them.
