Beretta .32 cal.

I just bought a Beretta .32 cal. Tomcat. The instruction booklet says that I should not have a round in the chamber, because some primers are very sensitive and my not take much to go off. But this defeats the purpose of self-defense. The ability of drawing the gun with one hand and firing right away iwould then be lost! What kind of ammo would be the best for safety, and is this precation just some way for the maunufacturer to protect themselves? Thanks.

I had the INOX Tomcat and kept a round in the chamber with no worry. Just be sure the hammer is down before you load the round. The flip up barrel makes this possible.

But there is another problem you may discover when you range test your new pistol. This is the last round "spitting" out onto the ground and not chambering. As best as those of us that studied it could determine it was due to the magazine ears being somewhat short. So the last round had nothing to "grab" the rim before the bullet nose fed into the chamber.

Your Tomcat may not do the "spitting", but if it does, check back here and I'll post what I tried that really helped it.

Good luck,

og

If I can't keep a round in the chamber I don't want it. The basic idea behind having a small concealed firearm is quick availability in a crisis. The idea of asking a BG to wait a minute while I chamber a round would defeat the whole purpose of the firearm.....

My KelTec P32 doesn't have that problem.. AND, it's lighter, less costly and has a lifetime warranty by a company who actually believe in CUSTOMER SERVICE. Beretta is sorely lacking in that area. ???JMO.

Bought a Tomcat yesterday myself. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. On the other hand, I carried a fully loaded .22 Beretta for years whenever I couldn't carry a 'real' gun. It collected a bit of pocket lint but never gave me a bit of trouble. I don't anticipate any from the .32. I suspect the corporate liability people would be happier if you didn't carry ammo at all!

Of the half dozen different handguns Ive gotten for the wife in trying t ofind the "perfect tasteing apple" for her, the Berretta Tomcat was her favored! no need to keep a round in the chamber with a tip up barrel but I carrieda few times withalive round in chamber neever shot my leg or more imporatnat personal areas!

I used silvertips mind you and we never had a negligent discharge!

The Bearcat has a heavy double action triggered and its safety can be engaged with its hammer down. It can be carried safely with a round in th chamber, hammer down, safety engaged. When it's needed to be brought into action, snick the safety off and fire double action!
