Self defense.

I think this is an interesting question.

Did you ever had to use your gun?
Yes, and fired?
Yes and no fired?

If you answered yes, would you describe your feelings, and your thoughts about the consequences?

That's not counting active military service, right?

Self defense.

I used to live and work in a bad part of town. I had to draw my gun three times to prevent assaults. I'm glad I had it, I'm really glad I never had to shoot, and I'm glad I moved.

Other than that, your question is too general for me to know how to properly answer.

I'll post the dog story later. I've only once drawn against a human, and I was a dumb kid. My dog had already spooked him and he was on the way out of the house. I never did call the cops.

Mostly just against critters though. The trained attack dogs were plain scary, but in retrospect, some were funny, like the 'possum that tried to clime my leg.

Comes with the territory in which I live I guess.

Self defense.

Josh,

A few years ago I was in a "close" encounter with 4 Hispanics that were around my truck when I exited the woods. As I approached and asked what they were doing, two tried to flank me. I drew my 1911 and came to a low ready, at that point, and told them to leave. The leader said "Hey, man. We don't want no trouble". They left and he didn't have any...

To this day there is lilttle doubt that if I hadn't been armed I would have been just another victim.

And people wonder why I don't go into the woods (or elsewhere) unarmed.

Wes

I'm not sure this answer exactly fits the question.

I went after a guy that threatened to kill my Wife.

Before I found him he killed someone else.

He shot an unarmed man in front of his wife and I don't think he spent a year in jail.

Yes, but not fired.

Just the one time in 23 years of carrying.

I walked in on a break-in when living in an apartment. They were not happy about being disturbed.

Changed my way of thinking on a few things.
