I pack when and where ever I like. I shoot right handed and left eyed. You should see me shoot a rifle. I get 9 kinds of grief when ever I go to the range. I just look at everyone else and snicker.....
They snicker when ever they see me commin. Cause they KNOW.
I can shoot right-handed, but re-loads, etc. are a case of all thumbs and no fingers.
I even have trouble brushing my teeth right-handed!
Using scissors is about the only thing I do efficiently with my right hand, and that's because there were never any left-handed scissor around when I was growing up. Try cutting paper with scissors left-handed - it's ever so much fun!
Most of the time I shoot pistols lefty I shoot one handed. The only reason I would go lefty is because my right hand is wounded somehow and wouldn't be there for support anyway.
I am right eye dominant and left-handed, but since my right eye is something in the neighborhood of 20/100 and my left is almost perfect, I have retrained myself to use my left to aim though I can still aim with my right eye when wearing my glasses (this is rare).
If you look at the poll, 40% thus far are left handed. Explainations also include lots of cross-eye dominance. This is all out of proportion to the national average.
I am right handed, but left eyed... and trifocals don't help. I don't do too badly shooting with my left hand, but do it only for the sake of practicing.
Hello all and thank you for the replies and votes.
Here is what I have found from compiled info here and elsewhere:
While there are definitely exceptions, the "survivor" drive is found to be strongest in those who are either cross eye dominant to their strong hands or left handed. It does not appear that there is a significant difference. I personally believe this shows more full utilization of brain power and the ability to think around problems, quickly.
In addition to these biological factors a strong backround in religion/spirituality seems to influence this drive to come alive in most cases.
It would be very interesting to cross-correlate my humble findings to the national averages. However, this is beginning to delve too deeply into sociology and I will therefore leave off here as this is not the place to discuss such things. I may turn the bigger picture over to my sister who holds a B.S. in sociology, statistics minor, and see if she'd be interested in the study.
I again thank you all. I am leaving the poll open should anyone wish to vote further. I will monitor and record the findings but I doubt I'll have much more to publish here for the reasons outlined above.
Right Handed, Left eye dominant but normally concentrate on shooting with the right eye.............Interesting how many seem to share the same rt hand/left eye experience. I thought that wasn't normal.
I would hazard a guess that many, if not most, who answered are into an art of some sort as well as being very logical. IQ is most likely over 110 in most cases as well.
I believe there is a broad psych profile that fits us all in other words.
Why this leads to a stronger will to survive, I cannot say.
Perhaps the creativity to think around corners and the ability (logic) to carry out these plans is the reason.

As a point of interest however, I also have a former background and in art as well........
