H&R Hunter Model

Recently I came into possession of my grandfathers H&R .22lr Hunter Model 7 shot DA/SA revolver with a 10" bbl. SN 130XXX. I can remember shooting it when I was probably 9-10 years old out on granddads farm. In researching it the only small frame Hunter Model 7 shot with a 10" bbl I can find, the barrel is supposed to be a "octagon barrel" instead of just a plain round barrel. I don't remember it ever having a octagon barrel, would anyone have any ideal what model this is by it not having the octagon barrel, I can't find anywhere where it came with a 10" round barrel and it appears to the original barrel, thanks.

H&R Hunter Model

PapaBear,

Didn't H & R make a version of that pistol with a wire folding stock? Can't remember what it was called(H & R Handygun?)

Just guessing, but I remember seeing one pictured. One of my (long ago) girlfriend's father had one. He showed it to me when he was showing me his shotgun...

Wes

H&R Hunter Model

Hey Wes, I don't know about the wire folding stock "H&R HandyGun", I'll have to research that, but I'd love to hear more about the father with the shotgun...

Edit: I found this on another site, maybe this is what you are talking about, but I couldn't find anything about the "wire folding stock".

The "original" H&R HANDY GUN was produced as a single shot pistol with "shotgun like" break action from 1931 to 1934. It was offered with rifled barrels in .22 rf or .32-20 cartridges and with smooth bore barrels in 28 gauge or .410 bore shotshell cartridges. It was produced in three distinct variations, all of which offered barrel length of 12.25" for the rifled barrels and either 8" or 12.25" full choked smooth bore barrels. Production and sales in the US ceased in 1934 because of the promolgation of the NFA of 1934.
