Hornady Steel Match Ammo

I saw a story about on this on Guns & Ammo TV.
You can get 50 rounds of HP for $17.95.

My neighbor suggests this is safe to shoot, but it might wear out the extractor
prematurely.

Has anyone heard this?

Or have you used steel casings and had this happen?

This is relatively new, but I'm thinking if it's from Hornady, it might be worth trying.

Thanks.

Rumor has it that it is good ammo. Hornady bullets and a cheaper steel case. I've heard that steel is actually better for some auto loading rifles since it holds up to the sometimes violent extraction better. I don't know that the same would hold true for a pistol. I shot some Wolf WPA through Hi Power without any trouble, but not so much that I can see any wear.

I will only use steel case ammo in Soviet firearms. I have seen that stuff repeatedly rip the extractors out of various guns in IDPA.

I have shot a lot of steel cased ammo over the years in my handguns with zero problems. I use it only for practice and plinking. At last count, I believe that I have 6-7K rounds of Wolf in 9mm and 223. The argument over steel case vs brass cased ammo will never be solved. I still have, and shoot, some 1944 45ACP ammo (American) in steel cases.

If it was dangerous, or harmful to your weapon, do you think that Hornady would risk their excellent American reputation on selling it??
