357 Magnum Question

I'll be honest; I chose this site because it was the first one I saw. I know abosolutely nothing about handguns. My husband has a 357 Magnum Model-1 (snubnose?) made by Buffalo Arms in Tonawanda, NY. Can anyone tell me anything about this handgun?

357 Magnum Question

Howdy subu,

I had to do a couple of different google searches before I hit paydirt. I found one link that discussed the handgun I think you are asking about. It was on a firearms site where someone was asking essentially the same question you have asked.

Here is the link: http://www.gunsnet.net/forums/showthread.php?t=195387

Based on the response offered it was a short-lived over-under derringer offered only in .357 magnum, and was fairly inexpensive when it was available.

So if the handgun you are asking about has one barrel over another one and appears to only hold two rounds of ammunition, I think I have answered your question. If not, then please give us a bit more info so we can try to help you figure out your handgun.

I personally know nothing about this particular handgun beyond the fact it appears to be a two shot over-under derringer. Based on that alone, those type of handguns do not tend to be easy to handle, shoot the wings off a fly type of handguns. Their grips are normally small and hard to hold, and the short barrels would make a full magnum load probably not the most pleasant of shooting experiences.

I suspect your handgun would also accept .38spc ammo, and if you are intersted in shooting it, that would be what I suggest you start out with initially.

Not much of an answer, but hope it helps a little anyway.
