Browning BLR extraction hang ups

hey gang, I've got a 1970's Browning BLR in .243, and have been experiencing some ejection hangups. At first I assumed it was because at the range I was putting my hand over the port to catch the rounds instead of letting them fly all over the place. But I started to see if I could just let fly to see how the fired shells ejected. almost every round hangs up on the ejection port no matter how I manage the lever. Seems like a simple fix but not wanting to remove the lever and bolt to access the chamber, I'm thinking the only alternative is to send it back to browning and let them do the porting job. Any thoughts?

While I only have a passing familiarity with the BLR's extractor my first suggestion would be to give the bolt and extractor a very, very thorough cleaning. It is possible that there could be some residue (dirt, dust, lubricant, etc.) impeding proper functioning. My second suggestion is to check the extractor spring. It could be broken or worn.

I'll second cleaning the extractor. I've had more problems with extractors than anything else.
