Pre-production: Remington R51 9x19 +P

This gun looks awesome, the ONLY possible drawback for me personally may be the trigger reach.

Remington's New R51 9x19mm Plus P Semi-Automatic Pistol

Sounds like other calibers are slated for the future.

The Remington pistols of the early part of the 1900's were all ways ray-gun like Buck Rogers. Very strange.

That's a ray gun I'd sure like to look over. Looks a little "Makarov-ish".

Hello,

I've seen some neat videos of the R-51 on Gun Blast and it appears to be the real "McCoy". If I were in the market for a "pocket nine", this one would be in the front running... Look out Kahr! There is a new Sheriff in town!

JayPee,
I thought the same thing! And I like the Makarov.

Chris,
To me, this gun could deliver what a lot of folks are looking for - very good power, decent size, fast into action, manageable recoil. I would like it as a belt gun, perhaps. Will be interesting to see.

Yes, and according to all the info I can get on it, the barrel axis is 25% lower than any other pistol because of Pederson's design. The videos I've seen show the gun recoiling straight back with almost no muzzle flip, even in rapid fire. So maybe someone has figured out how to make a small 9 that won't break your hand in recoil. I'm REALLY getting interested now.

Sure looks good..That breech design and barrel set up like the Mak makes for good accuracy. Kinda like a lightweight Makarov in 9mm.Gonna be fun seeing how it works out. I'd like a 1911 style safety instead of the grip. My old thumb has a memory chip built in,ha...Bill

Well darnit, couldn't get the link to work. There's a good writeup over at All Sports.
