Federal 9mm HST load

Hi Y'all,

I have an opportunity to pick up a quantity of Federal Premium Law Enforcement Tactical HST 9mm ammunition, coded P9HST1, for a very good price. Does anyone have any knowedge or information concerning this load's reputation, track record, etc? This is Not the +P load. Its muzzle velocity is listed as 1150 fps and its muzzle energy is listed at 365 foot pounds. Any thoughts appreciated.

JayPee -- I wish I could help but I've never shot that one. I don't buy much SD ammo. I generally only buy Winchester Ranger T, when I need some.

I've done some reading at the M4Carbine forum where there seems to be good ballistic testing info from tests conducted by DocGKR. There's not a lot about the *HST1 but there's nothing negative either. The +P version seems to be used more.

Here's what I found there - http://m4carbine.net/search.php?searchid=4335361

Hi Jer,

This may be close (HST2) though at 147 grains?

Can't vouch for the new HST line.

The older Hyrda-Shok (which I carried for years) after Federal changed the ogive AND changed the overall length CONSIDERALLY. Made several totally reliable 1911's turn into failure to feed monsters.

Change of ammo to Winch Ranger SXT LE 230 Gr. JHP's and all was well.
