I tried the search engine here but no results for Dynamit Nobel (Geco) ammunition. I'm searching for buying a few thousand rounds of 9MM ammo and the price was right for this 124gr FMJ. Velocity was 1150fps and muzzle energy about 364ft lbs. Dynamit Nobel is a German company I googled (which I knew), but this ammo is made at their plant in Switzerland.

Years back majority of European ammo was loaded on the hot side compared to American, but had hard primers which didn't matter to me since all my pistols are hammer driven for positive ignition. I do like Fiocchi and have had great results, and tried other Euro brands with not so good of results. But when I can save up to $40 per thousand compared to Winchester ammo which I do like, it's something to consider.

Anyone here ever use Dynamit Nobel (Geco) 124gr FMJ, and how were your results? Thanks!

Hello. Yes, I've shot quite a bit of it and it has worked flawlessly. Out of a Hi Power, velocities are in the 1150 ft/sec neighborhood and I've had no indications of high-pressure. The boxer-primed cases work nicely for reloading, if that's a consideration.

If my 9mm range ammunition stockpile was in need of replenishment at the present time, I'd not hesitate in buying Geco 124-gr. 9mm FMJ.

Best.

Fantastic Stephen and thanks for your positive input. I can rest at ease now. Time to get on the phone and make an order. I'll post results (no chronograph) how well the ammo performed out of my Hi-Powers in the near future.

oberstlt[/color]]I last saw it at the local goone show. The cost was $10/box of 50 and I always try to stock up when I see it. Time was I remember when you could by a case of a thousand for $100. Gone are those days.
Boy do I remember the .10 cents or less days on bulk ammo. My favorite in the late 80's was the Chicom 7.62x39 steel core bullets that came in two 720rd spam cans delivered to your door step for $89.

The Dynamit Nobel I just ordered today came out to .20 cents a round which included shipping.

I have had good results with the RWS/Geco 124 gr FMJ 9mm in every pistol I have shot with it and that includes a very tight Mauser Parabellum (repro Luger) with the six inch barrel.

I used to shoot the Geco 73 gr FMJ .32 Auto and the 94 gr FMJ .380 Auto when it was available. These two rounds were somewhat hotter than any US made FMJ available. But these two rounds must not be imported anymore.

Hello Wags,

I've been comtemplating buying some of this ammunition as well.

First, the Dynamit Nobel/GECO ammunition is produced in Thun, Switzerland by RUAG. I've been to and walked around Thun a couple of times and the plant is on the Western edge of the city by the SBB tracks. Thun is a lovely city located on Lake Thunerzie.

The Swiss make excellent ammunition and at this point I would by as much as I could afford for my 9mm's.

Sincerely,

Chris

I couldnt keep my Finger off the mouse, after, Wags pointed me in the direction of Ammo to go! I bought some 500 rnds of Geco 9mm ball. Can't wait to try it. After all, a Circut Court Judge overturned the Mail order ban, banning shipments of personel ammo to one's Home. Word to the Wise, buy when you can!

Been a while, but I finally got out to shoot this in my various 9mm's. It functioned perfectly in my Sig P226, HK P7 and Kahr P9 (lots of "P"s). It was very accurate (especially in the P7), and felt a little warmer than the Blazer 9mm I had been using previously for practice. Good ammo, good price, and good service from Ammo to Go.

I hate to resurrect a thread this old, but I took this ammo to an indoor range I belong to and it was sparking against the bullet trap. Turns out the bullet is attracted to a magnet, indicating steel in the construction of the bullet. So I can't use it anymore at that range. Bummer.
