Crazy Load for a 38-55 Rifle

Hi
I am a new member and would like to ask a question.
I will be shooting SASS Cowboy Action. I like to know a accurate load for my 38-55 Lever Action Rifle that I will use at Long Range ( 200-250 yds)
I reload for my 45-70 Rifle but like to use the 38-55.
Appreciate your suggestions
Thanks
Alex

Hi Alex.

.38-55 is my favorite round. 200-250 yds with a lever action? Since you didn't mention "which" rifle, I'll recommend what works for mine. I shoot a 106 year old Marlin 1893 in .38-55. It has a smokeless barrel. At the ranges you are talking about, I'd recommend 10 to 12 gr Unique or Universal underneath a 250 gr RNFP bullet with CCI primers. As usually recommended, start with 10 gr and work up to find the best accuracy for your rifle.
